Spotlight on Opera presents Madama Butterfly on Sunday, July 9th at 2pm. This opera follows 15-year-old geisha Cio-Cio-San who gives up her heritage, religion and family for her handsome husband, Lt. B.F. Pinkerton of the U.S. Navy. When he abandons her, she waits faithfully for three long years, never losing hope, but when Pinkerton returns with his American wife and demands the child he left her with, Madama Butterfly is forced to make a terrible choice: she can live without honor or die with it.
